1. The King of Shark Week Challenge Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence, whichever is greater, at the time of entry. Employees, officers and directors of Discovery Communications, LLC ("Sponsor"), Volkswagen of America, Inc. ("Promotional Partner"), Promotion Mechanics, Inc. ("Promotion Administrator"), their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, representatives, consultants, legal counsel, website providers, web masters, TV production partners, advertising and marketing agencies, promotional suppliers (collectively, "Sweepstakes Entities") and the immediate family members (spouses and parents, children and siblings and their spouses, regardless of where they live) or members of the same households (whether related or not) of such individuals are not eligible. All applicable federal, state, and local rules apply. Void where prohibited by law.

2. TO ENTER: The Sweepstakes begins at 8:00 PM Eastern Time ("ET") on August 10, 2014, and ends at 11:59 PM ET on August 31, 2014 ("Sweepstakes Period").

   To enter the Sweepstakes, during the Sweepstakes Period, visit vwsharkweek.com and click on the links to access the Sweepstakes entry page. Complete the online entry form by providing your name, email address, and any other requested information, and submit it so that it is received by Sponsor's server by 11:59 PM ET on August 31, 2014. Limit one (1) entry per person/email address per day, subject to the provisions below. For purposes of these Official Rules, a “day” is defined as the twenty-four (24) hour period starting at 12:00 AM EST and ending at 11:59 PM EST.

   If you submit an entry on August 10, 2014, August 11, 2014, August 12, 2014, and/or August 13, 2014, you will be given the opportunity to earn up to one (1) additional entry for that day if you participate in the scheduled Non-Stop Shark Week Challenge (each, a "Challenge"), according to the schedule below:

   Shark Survivor	Entries received from 9:20 PM on August 12, 2014, to 11:59 PM on August 31, 2014 – as long as the entrant opts to participate in the Challenge at the time of entry.
   Swim Like a Shark	Entries received from 9:20 PM on August 13, 2014, to 11:59 PM on August 31, 2014 – as long as the entrant opts to participate in the Challenge at the time of entry.

   Entrants are not obligated to participate in the Challenges in order to enter the Sweepstakes; however, Entrants can receive one (1) additional entry for each challenge he/she participates during the Sweepstakes Period, according to the schedule set out above. Limit one (1) additional entry per person/email address per applicable Challenge per day. You must complete all required information to be eligible to enter. Incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or untimely entries are void and will be disqualified. Proof of sending or submission of entry will not be deemed proof of receipt by Sponsor and/or Promotion Administrator.

   Note that by entering this Sweepstakes, you are agreeing to be bound by these Official Rules and the final decisions of the Sponsor and Promotion Administrator. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these Official Rules.

3. RANDOM DRAWING – PRIZE – ODDS OF WINNING: On or about September 1, 2014, the Promotion Administrator, an independent judging organization, will conduct a random drawing from among all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period to award one (1) Grand Prize, which consists of $2,500 cash and a Shark Week t-shirt. Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize: $2,525. Sweepstakes Entities make no guarantees as to the availability of any particular size of t-shirt associated with the Grand Prize.

   The potential winner will be notified by email, phone, postal mail and/or express mail at Sponsor's sole discretion. Inability to contact a potential winner or the return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in the prize being forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries received pursuant to the process described above. Return of any prize notification or prize as undeliverable may result in forfeiture of the prize, in Sponsor's sole discretion. Potential winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility, liability and (where legal) publicity release which must be returned within time period specified in the notification letter. If a potential winner cannot be contacted in person via email, telephone, postal mail and/or express mail within the time period set out above, or if he/she fails to sign and return the affidavit of eligibility, liability and (where legal) publicity release within the required time period (if applicable), or in the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate potential winner selected by a random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. Only three (3) alternate drawings will be held, after which any remaining prizes will remain un-awarded.

   THE POTENTIAL WINNER IS SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION BY SPONSOR AND/OR PROMOTION ADMINISTRATOR, WHOSE DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND BINDING IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE SWEEPSTAKES. AN ENTRANT IS NOT A WINNER OF ANY PRIZE UNLESS AND UNTIL ENTRANT'S ELIGIBILITY HAS BEEN VERIFIED AND ENTRANT HAS BEEN NOTIFIED THAT VERIFICATION IS COMPLETE.

   Prizes cannot be substituted, assigned, transferred, or redeemed for cash; however, Sponsor reserves the right to make equivalent prize substitutions at its sole discretion. Sponsor will not replace any lost or stolen prizes or components of a prize(s). Prizes cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer. Only the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules is available to be won in the Sweepstakes. If, by reason of a print or other error, more prizes are claimed than the number set forth in these Official Rules, an alternate winner will be selected in accordance with the winner selection method described above from among all eligible claimants making purportedly valid claims to award the advertised number of prizes available. Taxes on prizes and all expenses related to acceptance and use of prizes are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize winner.

   Odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received.

4. PUBLICITY; LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE: By participating entrants agree [a] to these Official Rules and decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final in all respects relating to this Sweepstakes; [b] to release, discharge and hold harmless Sweepstakes Entities, Facebook, Inc., Twitter, Inc., and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, consultants, contractors, legal counsel, advertising, public relations, promotional, fulfillment and marketing agencies, website providers, web masters, and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives, and agents (the "Released Parties") from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from their participation in the Sweepstakes or their acceptance, use or misuse of prize including, without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage, and any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy, or merchandise delivery; and if a winner, [c] to permit Sweepstakes Entities to use his/her name, photograph, likeness, statements, biographical information, voice, voice likeness and city and state address for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes in all media, including but not limited to on air and within www.discovery.com, in perpetuity, without compensation, notice, or permission (unless prohibited by law) and agree to execute specific consent to such use upon request. The Released Parties are not responsible if any prize cannot be awarded due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather, or terrorism. By participating in this Sweepstakes, entrant agrees that the Released Parties will not be responsible or liable for any injuries, damages, or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages to persons, including death, or to property arising out of access to and use of any website associated with this Sweepstakes or the downloading from and/or printing material downloaded from such site.

   WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, EVERYTHING REGARDING THIS SWEEPSTAKES, INCLUDING THE WEBSITE AND ALL PRIZES, ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. 5. GENERAL: This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States. Sweepstakes Entities, their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, agents and representatives, and the officers, directors and employees of each are not responsible for and shall not be liable for [a] any telecast, cable or telephone malfunctions, human error, satellite transmission failures, or delayed telecasts or preemption of or the failure of a cable affiliate to televise Discovery Channel or any affiliated Sponsor network in all or any parts of the United States; [b] electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation, server malfunction or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries; [c] failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; [d] late, lost, misdirected or incomplete entries or postage-due mail; or [e] any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsor that may cause the promotion to be disrupted or corrupted. WARNING: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAW, AND, SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes or any portion thereof should virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the promotion, in which case prize will be awarded via a random drawing from among all eligible entries received prior to cancellation. Entries must be submitted by the entrant only at the authorized web site address of vwsharkweek.com. Entries may not be made by any other individual or any entity, and/or originating at any other Internet website or e-mail address, including but not limited to commercial Sweepstakes subscription notification and/or entering service sites. Any winner who enters by any of the methods described above will be disqualified and an alternate winner selected. Use of any device to automate entry is prohibited. Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than the stated number of plays and/or entries by using multiple and/or different identities, forms, email addresses, logins, or any other methods will void that participant's plays and/or entries, and that participant may be disqualified at Sponsor's and/or Promotion Administrator's discretion. Multiple participants are not permitted to share the same email address. In the event of a dispute as to any registration or play, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register will be deemed to be the registrant or player. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder to the Sponsor and/or the Promotion Administrator or forfeit the prize. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry at any time in the event it is determined that the entrant has not complied with these Official Rules. This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, with jurisdiction and venue in Montgomery County, Maryland, and all claims must be resolved in the courts of Montgomery County, Maryland.

PRIVACY & USE OF ENTRY INFORMATION: Please note that by entering this Sweepstakes and by checking the “opt-in” boxes on the entry form for this promotion, you are [a] agreeing that the Sponsor may share your entry information (including your name, address, email address, etc.) with our promotional partners and other parties; and [b] granting us, our promotional partners and other third parties with which we choose to share your information, permission to contact you about our upcoming shows, promotions or for other reasons. You may enter this Sweepstakes but keep your entry information private by not checking the “opt-in” boxes on the entry form. The collection and use of entrant information will be governed by Sponsor's on-line privacy policy, available for viewing at http://www.discovery.com/utilities/about/privacypolicy.html.
